Our PE days this half term are Tuesday (pm) and Thursday (am). Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit in school on these days.

Children are expected to read their library book for at least 15 minutes a day.

Now we are into the summer term, the children are recapping all the times tables with a daily practise and test in class. Please ensure that your child also practises at home. Don't forget that the Times Table Rock Stars site is a great way for your child to practise.

Spellings are sent home on a Friday ready for the spelling test the following Friday. Please practise the spellings with your child over the weekend and week.

For the final term of Year 4, I gave the class the opportunity to choose the class book themselves. Henry suggested Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and whilst a few of the children had watched the film, not many had read it, so it was a great suggestion! We will, of course, make time to watch the film once we've finished the story.

When a letter arrives for unhappy but ordinary Harry Potter, a decade-old secret is revealed to him that apparently he's the last to know. His parents were wizards, killed by a Dark Lord's curse when Harry was just a baby, and which he somehow survived. Leaving his unsympathetic aunt and uncle for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry stumbles upon a sinister mystery when he finds a three-headed dog guarding a room on the third floor. Then he hears of a missing stone with astonishing powers, which could be valuable, dangerous - or both. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

In spring term we are reading an adventure story by Hannah Gold relating to our geography topic - Turtle Moon.

Silver Trevelon’s parents aren’t happy. They haven’t been happy since the nursery they decorated started gathering cobwebs, waiting for the baby brother or sister that never came. So when Silver’s dad is invited to paint at a turtle rescue centre in Costa Rica, she hopes it’ll be just the adventure the family needs.

Under the hot tropical sun, Silver settles into life at the animal centre. She even witnesses a rare sighting of a leatherback turtle nesting on the beach. But when the turtle’s eggs are stolen, events take a dark and dangerous turn. Can Silver and her new friends track them down before it's too late? It’ll mean journeying into the heart of the jungle …
