Computing Intent
Our computing curriculum has been designed to encourage curiosity, enjoyment, individuality, resilience and respect. During computing, children learn the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, how to use a range of software competently and confidently and how to communicate responsibly with a range of applications. This enables our children to be digitally literate and thrive in an ever evolving technological world.

Our Approach
We teach Computing through Purple Mash as a whole school approach which offers a comprehensive, thought-through scheme of work which brings consistency and progression.
Pupils save their work on the shared area in an individual folder. They are set work on Purple Mash to complete and ‘hand’ this in for teacher’s to assess. The computing lead has access to all work across the school.
Staff use a range of resources already planned from the Purple Mash scheme of work which includes unit plans, digital programmes, power-points and quizzes.
By the end of each unit, children who are working at the expected standard will be accessing skills more independently.
Staff use a range of resources to plan and teach interesting lessons that cover the National Curriculum.
Staff use the Progression of Skills document to ensure work is properly pitched.
Computing is celebrated through school with whole-school competitions, after-school clubs and our Cyber Safety Squad.
Each year we celebrate 'Safer Internet Day' with whole-school competitions. In 2025, each child presented a poster for the theme "Too Good To Be True" with prizes for the winners. This year (2026), children took part in a AI or real life photo quiz and our Cyber Safety Squad presented a whole-school assembly on online safety and 'Safer Internet Day'.
