Outdoor Learning

March 2022

We made plant pots out of newspaper, filled them with compost and then planted a sunflower seed. We have taken them home so that we can look after them and take part in the whole school sunflower competition.

We weeded and prepared the raised bed before sowing peas, carrots and radish seeds. We need to keep them well watered so they grow into strong, healthy plants.

We talked about our current topic, Eureka! And what the Greeks like to eat. We sliced Mediterranean vegetables, placing them on top of feta cheese and baked it in a tinfoil parcel on the firepit. It was delicious!

We worked as teams to create dens and then we enjoyed our hot chocolates sheltering inside them.

January 2022

We played our part in creating a new hedgerow within the school grounds to create habitats and increase bio-diversity.

We talked about Greek Mythology, linking to our current topic Eureka! We learnt about Hades and created our own underworlds depicting death and decay.

We completed a maths scavenger hunt.

We drew a birds-eye-view map of the area and then used indentification guides to plot "playing field plants" on to it.

We cooked popcorn on the firepit and boiled water to make hot chocolate.
