Week Commencing 04.5.20

Hi everyone, another week gone and it`s Monday morning again.  We hope you are all ok.  Our topic this half term is Super hero`s so we hope you are all doing super learning and super fun things at home with your family.

Reading

We hope you have been enjoying Supertato our T4W (talk for writing) book.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rze89HB9u8g

Keep reading the story and each time talk about what is happening on each page.  Can you describe some of the other vegetables the carrot, cucumber and the brocolli? Look at the shapes of the vegetables, colour and texture.  Discuss with your family.

Continue to read the books you have at home and maybe make up your own super hero story.

Read your tricky words see previous pages.

Writing

Do you know any jokes? Try and write them down and tell them to your brothers and sisters or parents.  Can you post any on our Twitter pages.

A banana said to his friends "how are you feeling today?" he said "I`m PEELING good!!"  (Lily's)

What do you call a person who goes swimming in the sea with no legs and no arms and no eyes?  Answer - BOB!! (Oliver`s)

Keep practising your hand writing using our cursive script, writing your names and simple sentences.

If you go onto the Twinkl website you can look at different pictures to create simple sentences and it gives the children something to write about. SEARCH - eyfs simple sentence cards. https://www.twinkl.co.uk/search?term=simple+sentence+cards

Twinkl is still free at the moment for parents.

Maths

Last week we looked at doubles (ladybird doubles).  We would like you to look at halving which links in with last weeks learning.

Have a look at these images of different ways to make up halving and re cap doubles using the things that they like to play with at home, keep it interactive and fun!

Remeber number blocks to 10, counting forwards to 20.  Play a game with your family or siblings: do you know the number before and after different numbers to 20?  So what is the number before 16? and after 16?

If you can do some baking if you have enough ingredients. Talk about weighing ingredients and think about measuring liquids using capacity as a measure.

We look forward to seeing some delicious treats, send your pictures in via twitter. (see our twitter addresses).

Have a go at making a rainbow using water and felt tips - follow the link below. (Please make sure that children are supervised when going on the internet).
