Home Learning - Week Commencing 7.12.20

Monday

English - This week we are practising writing CVC words. They are simple three letter words such as dog, cat, big, lid etc. Get an adult to tell you some words and have a go at sounding them out using your Fred fingers and writing them on some paper.

Maths - In Maths we are learning to order objects by their height. Find some things around your house that are different sizes. Can you put them in the correct order from biggest to smallest. If you have a printer at home you could print out and order the Christmas crackers by size too.

Creative - Design and make a Christmas card. 

 

Tuesday

English - Draw some pictures of different Christmas objects e.g. santa, cracker, tree etc. Can you write the correct beginning sound next to your drawings.

Wednesday

English - Write a letter to Santa - draw what you would like for Christmas and have a go at writing some of the words.

Maths - If you have a printer have a go at the christmas colour by numbers below. If not don't worry. Have a go at drawing different christmas objects. Can you draw 1 cracker, 2 baubles, 3 Christmas trees, 4 reindeers, 5 elves. Practise writing the number next to them too.

Thursday

Phonics-  Practise all the new sounds that you have learned this week. Z, CH, Q. Can you find things that start with those sounds around your house? Have a go at writing these sounds. 

Maths - Practise some adding at home. Talk about what these symbols mean + =  and then get some groups of objects from around your house and add them together. How many do you have in total? 

 

Friday

Understanding the world - Do you have any ice at home or can you make some? Explore what happens when it gets hot? Can you make the ice melt quicker? What did you do?

P4C - Would you rather have lots of little presents or one big present of something you really, really want?

Reading - Have a look at the Oxford Owl website. Try out some of their e-books and read them with your family.

Monday 30.11.20

English - This week we are practising writing our name in different ways. Copy over your name in paints or felt tips at home. Get an adult to write it out for you and you write over the top. Have a go at then writing your name on your own.

Maths - Watch the Number blocks episode 'Three Little Pigs'  https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08cqtk0/numberblocks-series-1-three-little-pigs On a piece of paper chose one of the Number blocks we have learned so far and draw what their house would look like. e.g. Number 3 would have three windows, three doors, three chimneys etc.

Creative - Practise your cutting skills. Get an adult to draw some different lines on some paper. Straight lines. curly lines, wobbly lines, zig zags etc. Have a go at using the scissors to cut out following the lines.

 

Tuesday 1.12.20

English - For today's name practise. Ask an adult to write your name and cut it up so each letter is separate. Can you put it in the correct order. Practise writing the different letters of your name.

Wednesday 2.12.20

English -  Can you write your name lots of times. Get an adult to write it out then miss a letter each time for you to fill it in (please see the picture below for an example)

Maths - Write numbers 1-6 on a piece of paper. A few of each number. Use a dice ad roll it. Count the spots on the dice and then colour in the matching number. You could make this into a game and see who colours all their numbers in first.

Thursday 3.12.20

English - Practise reading all the RWI sounds that you know. (see class dojo stories for the sounds) Can you write some of them?

Phonics - Practise the new sounds that we have learned this week again. Y, W, TH  can you have a go at writing them? find some things around your house that start with these sounds.

Maths - Draw the number blocks 1-6. Can you draw the matching dice pattern dots underneath each of them (see sheet at the bottom if you would like to download this)

 

Friday 4.12.20

Reading -  Read your book from school or have a look at the Oxford owl website for some e-books to share with your family.

Understanding the World - Talk about Christmas? what traditions, if any, do you have. How do you celebrate. Research what other cultures may do to celebrate.

Monday

Maths - With different resources i.e. chalk outside, shaving foam in a tray, large piece of paper and felt tips etc. Practise writing numbers 1-5. Can you make them really big, really small? Make sure you are forming them correctly.

Creative - Make a jigsaw - Draw a picture. Cut it into different pieces and fix it back together like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

 

Tuesday 

English - CVC words are words that have three letters (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant) e.g. cat, bag, mum, bin etc. (play the cvc snakes and ladders game sent home or in the link below) encourage your child to sound out and blend to read the word.

Maths - Watch Number blocks episode 5 on bbc iPlayer or follow the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08d630h/numberblocks-series-1-five ( if you have time you could re watch all the Number blocks episodes we have learned so far. 1-5. Draw the different number blocks. Can you use the correct colours and the correct amount of blocks for each Number block?

Understanding the World - Do you have a pet? draw a picture and talk about what you do to look after it. If not draw what pet you like to have and find out what you would need to do to look after it.

 

Wednesday 

English - write some letters that we have learned so far on pieces of paper ( These are the letters we know M,A,S,D,T,I,N,P,G,O,C,K,U,B,F,E,L,H,) Ask an adult to say a word. Can you arrange the letters to make the correct words.

Maths - Using 5 objects from around your house and two plates. Seperate the groups of objects on to the two plates. e.g. 3 objects on one plate, two on another. Phonics - Practise the new sounds that we have learned this week. R , J and V. Can you have a go at writing these? Can you find things in your house that start with these sounds?

Maths -Adding to 5 - Using the sheet sent home (or downloading it from below) practise adding objects to equal 5. e.g. 1+4=5, 2+3=5.

P4C -  Would you rather be a giant or the same size as a mouse? why?

Maths - Number Hunt - Ask an adult to write numbers 1-10 on pieces of paper and hide them around your house. Can you go around and find them. When you have found them have a go at writing them or tick them off a list.

Physical Development - run around your garden. How quickly can you do this? get an adult to time you. Do it again can you beat your score? How many jumps, hops, claps etc can you do in 1 minute?

Practise counting from 1-5. Can you find five different objects around your house? Can you order number from 1-5. Draw around your hand. Colour it in then write numbers on your fingers. How many fingers do you have?

Creative -  Make a picture of a rainbow. Can you put the colours in the correct order. Have a go at singing the rainbow song?

 

Tuesday 

English -  Carrying on from the story yesterday. Make an owl picture.

Maths - Using the pack sent home find the colour splat sheet. Cut out the written numbers and match them to the correct pictures. 

Understanding the World - What is your favourite animal. Find out some facts about it. Can you draw it?

 

Wednesday

English - Think about the colours of a rainbow. What colours are there. Think about the beginning sound of each colour e.g. red - r. Can you think of other things that start with those sounds.

Maths - Make a 5 birthday card. Can you write a number 5 on the front and draw 5 things (birthday cakes, presents, balloons etc.) Have a go at practising your name inside the card.

Maths- Practise writing numbers 1-5 making sure that your form them correctly.
